Artist Feature: Andy Manne / Art / Class of 2023

Andy Manne, a St. Mary's Academy senior, is the creator of "The Times They Are a-Changin'," which was featured in the 2021-22 issue of Escribe Maria. About their piece, they told Escribe Maria, "During COVID I became a huge fan of Bob Dylan. I had grown up listening to his music but didn't really know much about him or the meaning behind his songs. I was inspired by his early career in Greenwich Village, where he wrote and released the album The Times They Are a-Changin', the end of his tenure as a protest and folksinger, to make this piece. Using the title track of the album, it is a parody of a TIME magazine cover, featuring my portrait of Dylan over an edited collage of images of the Village, him performing, and protests that I felt defined that era of his career."
