“The Perfect World“
Kaye Cowan is a current junior at St. Mary’s Academy. She had various photographs, including “Light Through Evergreens” and “The Perfect World,” featured in the 2022-2023 edition of Escribe Maria. She explains that the main factor she takes into consideration while shooting photos is making them “fun to look at.” Once she takes a photo, she goes on to enhance them in online applications such as Lightroom and Photoshop, adding an additional layer of nuance.
Cowan says, “Every time I go somewhere interesting, I bring my camera and try to ‘stock up’ on photos! This way l'll have photos to edit in my free time. My mindset while shooting is ‘get pictures now and make sure they’re good later.’ Photography is usually the only thing I really like about traveling, but it's worth it to make cool photos.” She says she is especially drawn to the genre of nature photography, which she values since it provides an opportunity to “capture the Earth's natural beauty.”
